ACTIVITIES IN 2006:
The first journey of project representatives to Vietnam was realized between 27th September and 11th October.
In 2006 “Analysis of the current state of waste management in Vietnam” was elaborated and the project web pages were put into service.
ACTIVITIES IN 2007:
At the beginning of 2007 the analytic part was finished by elaborating of SWOT analysis on waste management in Vietnam. This SWOT analysis was presented in Hanoi in the workshop “Basic principles of waste management planning” that was organized in cooperation with VEPA in April 2007.
The analytic activities replaced conceptual part of the project. At first two methodologies for waste management planning at regional level (Draft of methodology for elaboration of concept on solid municipal waste and similar waste management at regional level, Draft of methodology for elaboration of concept on medical waste management at regional level) were elaborated in 2007.
In the following a set of workshops aimed at presentation of the methodologies in particular partner provinces (Thua Thien Hue, Ninh Binh, Lam Dong), i.e. in the working groups which were founded in provinces, was organized.
Implementation of educational campaigns in the selected schools is an important potential for improving of the waste handling. In Vietnam children and youth present a significant group.
AKTIVITIES IN 2008:
The methodologies drafted during 2007 are being verified in practice by elaboration of concepts for each waste type in the partner provinces. In spring 2008 those concepts will be presented and discussed in working groups in the partner provinces. On the basis of elaborated concepts the important aspect of the project will be to define the concrete projects that shall play the key role in the focused province in improvement of situation in waste management.
Likewise the study trip of Vietnamese experts to the Czech Republic will be realized. Within the study trip the basic technologies for waste treatment will be showed and the part of excursion will be oriented on waste separation in households and on taking back system.
The educational campaign at schools will be continued. The materials created and tried out during the last year (puzzles, comics,…) will be distributed to selected schools in the partner provinces.
At the end of the project the final workshop will be organized in cooperation with VEPA. The workshop will content presentations of the project outputs, but also activities of VEPA or others in the field of waste management planning.
These web sites will be regularly updated during the whole period of project implementation.
