HCMC set to mark Waste Recycling Day (16:01 13/04/2010)
Ho Chi Minh City will mark the third annual Waste Recycling Day on April 18 by giving away small presents to people bringing recyclable wastes, including batteries, electric bulbs, and chemical containers, to Le Van Tam Park.
The event, organized by the city Department of Natural Resources and Environment, aims at raising public awareness of recycled products, the importance of recycling, conservation of natural resources, and environmental protection.
It will also feature an exhibition of products made from recycled materials, documentary screenings, painting contests, and a fashion show using recycled clothes.
Thirty domestic and international environmental firms will showcase their recyclable waste collection and treatment and recycling technologies.
The organizers launched a recyclable waste gathering movement at communities and schools in the city one month before the event.
Last year the event attracted 7,000 participants.
