The purpose of the project is implementation of such activities that will contribute to elimination of impacts of growing waste production on citizens´ health and the environment. The activities are focused on support by establishing of an efficient and economically reasonable waste management on the basis of regional planning in waste management.
The project contains following activities:
• elaboration of detailed expert research and analysis of waste management in Vietnam,
• supplement of the analysis by local inquiry in the partner province,
• elaboration of methodology for planning in waste management at regional level,
• elaboration of waste management concept,
• stipulation of concrete projects for partner provinces based on concept,
• design and operation of project web page,
• implementation of workshops,
• educational campaign at schools in partner provinces,
• implementation of study trip to the Czech Republic for Vietnamese experts.
At the beginning of the project there was made a detailed expert research of all available sources including analysis of legislation that was supplemented by the local inquiry in the partner provinces. This was summarized to the study “Analysis of waste management in Vietnam” and to studies on current situation in the waste management in each partner province (Thua Thien Hue, Ninh Binh, Lam Dong). The analytical part will be finished by elaboration of the SWOT analysis.
Continuously to the analytic part the conceptual activities will be started. In the next step methodologies for waste management planning at the regional level will be elaborated. Then a set of workshops aimed at presentation of the methodologies in particular partner provinces (Thua Thien Hue, Ninh Binh, Lam Dong) , i.e. in the working groups which were founded in provinces, will be organized.
These methodologies will be verified in practice by elaboration of concepts for each waste type in the partner provinces. On the basis of elaborated concepts the important aspect of the project will be to define the concrete projects that shall play the key role in the focused province in improvement of situation in waste management.
The necessary supplement of the project will be an educational part which contains above all trainings for members of state administration both at national level and mainly at regional level. In addition other activities of educational campaign will be aimed at children and youth through presentation of interactive materials prepared for the age category of basic schools and minor grades of secondary schools.
In parallel with the project solving, the project website www.waste-viet.com is in operation and is being subsequently supplied with technical information on the waste management, including partial outcomes of the project.
